Hot in the City: Coming Home to Columbus
by Candice Marzetz | Posted in:
DESIGN + HOMEHe had spent years in California, and Columbus was calling him home. What he wanted was a place that held both: the city he was returning to and the life he had built while he was away.
Jamie of Maze & Co. Real Estate Group introduced us. She understands that finding the right home is only half the story. The other half is making it yours, and that’s where I come in.
The home was a loft in the Metropolitan in Grandview Heights, a flat-iron building and a 2009 Chamber of Commerce award winner. When I first walked in, I saw generous light, architectural character and every opportunity to become something personal. I brought in the right general contractor for the project, and together we approached it floor to ceiling.
A living room with a story
We lightened the original floors to let the space breathe. A porcelain tile surround frames an electric fireplace, with the television set above it. I designed a custom cherry media center with inset lighting around his two passions. Behind its doors, a hidden record player, his LP collection and audio equipment wait until the music starts. Above, the shelves were designed to display the art he collects now and make room for the pieces still to come. Bespoke drapery softens the architecture without hiding it.
An office that belongs
For the home office, I designed a walnut desk with matching floating shelves to sit in conversation with his existing file cabinetry. The room has an unusual shape, so rather than fight it, we angled the sides of the desk and lit shelves to follow the walls. Nothing new announces itself. Every piece looks as though it was always meant to be there.
What he remembers
When the work was finished, he told me I had understood and cared about every part of the process, and that he never once had to wonder where things stood. For someone managing a move across the country, that mattered as much as any finish I chose.
Whether you’re coming home to Columbus or arriving for the first time, I’d love to help you settle in. Reach out to me at Candice & Co. Ltd. Design Studio, and let’s start the conversation.

DESIGN + HOME
We are thrilled to unveil our latest project—a stunning transformation of a laundry room into a sanctuary that celebrates the beauty of Flora and Fauna. Inspired by the timeless allure of nature, this space blends elegant design with whimsical accents, creating a haven of comfort and style.
Nature’s Influence
In designing this remodeled laundry room, we drew inspiration from the delicate balance found in nature. Shades of green, white, and navy dominate the color palette, evoking the tranquility of a verdant garden. These hues are seamlessly integrated into the space, from the customized cabinetry to the hand-picked decor pieces that reflect the flora and fauna theme.
Whimsical Touches
Central to the room’s charm are the whimsical elements that add character and playfulness. Branch-inspired coat hooks bring a touch of the outdoors inside, while a custom striped cushion bench seat offers a cozy spot to swap shoes before and after your day. These details not only enhance the functionality of the room but also imbue it with a sense of elegant whimsy.

The elegance of the space is further emphasized by the choice of materials and finishes. White cabinetry provides a clean and timeless backdrop, accentuating the natural colors and textures throughout. The aged-bronze accents add a touch of sophistication, elevating the overall aesthetic and creating a space that is as beautiful as it is functional.
Bringing It All Together
Every aspect of this remodeled laundry room has been carefully curated to create a harmonious blend of nature-inspired design and practicality. A Kitchen Where Quiet Elegance Meets Gilded Luxury
by Candice Marzetz | Posted in:
DESIGN + HOME
Welcome to a design journey where tradition meets elegance, bringing together timeless elements to create a kitchen that’s both sophisticated and inviting. At Candice & Co., we believe your kitchen should be where beauty and functionality coexist.
The Cabinetry: A Calm and Refreshing Foundation
The heart of this kitchen design is the custom color cabinetry, featuring a soft, blue-green hue that evokes the calming essence of a serene sea. This color palette creates a refreshing atmosphere, perfect for those who wish to infuse their home with a touch of nature’s serenity. The cabinets serve as a versatile canvas, blending seamlessly with various design styles while setting a serene foundation for the space.
Gilded Accents: A Touch of Luxury
Complementing the cool tones of the cabinets are the gilded hardware and fixtures. This deep, burnished gilded tones introduce warmth and sophistication, reminiscent of the golden hues of a sunset over the ocean. These accents, including handles and light fixtures, add a rich, luxurious contrast that elevates the entire kitchen’s aesthetic. The interplay of these elements creates a harmonious balance between cool and warm tones, tradition and elegance.
Intricate Beauty: Lighting and Backsplash
To enhance the intricate beauty of this kitchen, we’ve included frosted globe pendant lighting and an arabesque backsplash. The pendant lights cast a soft, diffused glow, adding a touch of modern elegance to the space. Meanwhile, the arabesque tiles, with their delicate patterns, provide a subtle yet striking backdrop, adding a layer of texture and sophistication. These elements work together to create a cohesive and visually stunning environment.
A Timeless Masterpiece
Candice Marzetz strives to create spaces that are more than just functional; they are reflections of your unique taste and lifestyle. This kitchen design, with its Waterscape hue cabinets, gilded hardware, and carefully curated details, is a timeless masterpiece. It’s a place where tradition meets elegance, and where every meal becomes a cherished memory.
